The Royal Wedding Photographer

Who will be the Royal Wedding Photographer?  It was announced in April that Hugo Burnand, also the photographer for Charles and Camilla will be the official wedding photographer for William and Catherine.

The Following is a direct copy from Hugo Burnand’s Blog Site:

“Why do I take photographs? More than the spontaneous image or the thoughtful portrait, it is the unpredictable pleasure of photography that glues me to my camera” (Hugo Burnand).

Hugo Burnand was born on 24th Sept 1963, in Cannes, France.

He first learnt about developing pictures and printing photographs on the kitchen table at home with his mother, the photographer Ursy Burnand. With all the windows shuttered, and the dark room assembled among the pots, kitchen sink and saucepans, they developed her photographs together. With his mother beside him, Hugo’s lifelong passion for photography was born.

Education –

1971 – 1976 Hugo Burnand attended Cheam Preparatory School in Berkshire. (Alumni include HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH Prince Charles).

Hugo then went on to Harrow School 1977 – 1981. (Alumni include William Fox Talbot the inventor and pioneer of photography, and the iconic society photographers Cecil Beaton, Patrick Lichfield and Geoffrey Shakerley).

Career Milestones –

Early accolades include winning the Cheam School Photographic Competition aged 7.

At Harrow School Hugo became the un-official school photographer, taking school-leavers portraits.

In 1991 Hugo became assistant to photographer Julian Calder at Alma Studios.

In 1993 Hugo was appointed by Tatler (Conde Nast) as the official Bystander (Social) Photographer.

In 1994 Hugo moved to his own studio in Notting Hill.

1994 – Present Day. Hugo has been commissioned both privately for portraits, weddings and parties and for editorial in locations around the world including Paris, New York, South Africa, Kenya, Hong Kong, Barbados, India, and Spain and his photographs have been published all around the world, in publications ranging from The Times to Tatler.

In 2005 Hugo was the official photographer at the wedding of HRH Prince Charles and HRH Duchess of Cornwall.

In 2008 Hugo was commissioned to take the Official 60th Birthday Portrait of HRH Prince Charles.

Individuals who have been photographed either privately, portrait or in a ‘lifestyle’ capacity by Hugo Burnand include David and Samantha Cameron, President Gorbachev, Bill Clinton, Sir Dennis and Lady Thatcher, HM The Queen, HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, HRH Prince William of Wales, HRH Prince Harry, Lucien Freud, Victoria Beckham, Graham Norton, Bruce Oldfield, Ben Fogle, The Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe, David Hockney, David Linley, Sacha Distel, Uma Thurman, Ruth Rendall, Peter Godwin, The Earl of Derby, Imelda Staunton, Santa and Simon Seabag Montefiore, Linda Evangelista, Rob Lowe, The Duke & Duchess of Bedford, Brent Hobermann, Tom Parker Bowles, Sienna Miller, Emma Sergeant, Michael Jackson, Spike Milligan, Natalie Cole, Barry and Oscar Humphries – to name just a few…

Hugo’s high profile clients value his unique ability to capture the essence of their personality in his photographic portraits. The sessions are always full of energy and Hugo’s clients value his discreet confidentiality.

Family –

In 1993 Hugo married Louisa Hallifax and they now have 4 children. Louisa is very much involved with Hugo’s work and often assists him. They live in Notting Hill, London W2.

Hail

Hail capturedinnocence

The second time this year already I’ve seen hail come down.  With the changes in our environment, the natural disasters world wide it really doesn’t come as a major surprise – still, not something I want to be standing out in when it’s coming down!

Calling All Kids!

It’s Back!  The Lake Shore Gospel Hall has been putting on a mid week program in Theford for some time now at the Royal Canadian Legion.  I believe this is the third “instalment” of the program that we have been able to take part in.  It’s a free program for the kids to come out for the hour of songs, challenges, Bible lessons, games and a snack.  Everyone is welcome, and the kids love it.  Check it out, starting tonight at 6:30 at the Royal Canadian Legion – 43 Nelson street in Thedford.

…if necessary, use words.

Shortly after the Japanese Disaster I saw this clip on CNN.  Franklin Graham of Samaritan’s Purse International Relief Organization being interviewed as a plane of 90+ tons of relief was about to be sent to Japan…but who would deliver these supplies once they arrived ?  See below for “the rest of the story”…
Samaritan’s Purse

Let me introduce you to a school in Japan, it’s called the MeySen Academy.

A School that specializes in early childhood development and English as a Foreign Language.

A School of ordinary people, making a Huge Difference by serving as a disaster relief team centre

– Because they chose to act.

As a result they have been working directly with the surrounding communities, identifying needs, and immediately buying and delivering exactly what those in need request.  In addition the team delivered over 50 tons of supplies donated through Samaritan’s Purse.

Please watch the following short video to see what the MeySen Academy team are doing along with other volunteers working continuously to help those in Japan – many who have lost absolutely everything.

The Love Story

A Love Story To Give You A Smile For The Weekend!

Backstory as written by Colin Cabalka: This was created for Emily Wilson, who is the sister of Sarah Wilson, a girl I met and became good friends with at the Cannes Film Festival in France. Sarah thought it would be a good idea to set me and her sister up despite the obvious distance in between California (where I live) and Florida (where they live). So I made a video for her sister and got one back, and thus we started talking in June 09, and I am going out to Florida in January 2010... Thus, a good reason to make such a video!

From Colin…

And here is Emily’s Response…

In Response from Sarah Wilson Thacker on Vimeo.

And The Result…

The Proposal

Posted August 18, 2010.
Colin arranged a surprise visit to Sea World for Emily's birthday (well or so she thought). The only access the public has to the penguin habitat is by viewing from behind the thick glass. If a visitor gets lucky they may be able to walk on the concrete behind the scenes to pet a penguin, but they aren't allowed on the snow. After speaking with a few connections and after lots of phone calls emails and organizing, he had an in at SeaWorld.
Here's the Pre-Proposal story:
Along long time ago, a boy named Colin reached out of a bus window and gave cookies to two girls, Sarah and Shannon, in Cannes France at the Film Festival. These girls then told Colin that he would make a perfect match for Emily Wilson (Sarah's sister in Florida). Colin & Emily began talking long distance without ever meeting, sending videos like this:http://vimeo.com/7576361 and then getting something like this as a response:http://www.vimeo.com/8043751... Eventually they met in the airport when Colin went to pickup Sarah and EMILY jumped out. They fell for each other fast, and 8 months later, Colin had a bigger surprise for Emily. :)
The idea of the penguin proposal started with the metaphor of penguins picking a mate for life. Emily asked Colin to be her penguin about a few months after dating, and the metaphor has always been part of their relationship. When Colin decided he wanted to propose, he had to do something really big, and yet still original and significant to their relationship.
Special thanks to Brandon & Sophia Hyde for helping shoot photos and video while being completely undercover and not giving anything away! (www.blackbirdmedias.com)

Congratulations You Two!!!

Let me preface this by saying:  I wouldn’t suggest loading it – I found it irritating trying to work and constantly having pop-ups on my screen...it’s a cool idea though.

Thought I would share with you this new gadget for the social media network – Facebook.  This is kind of like a little sidebar widget for Facebook where you can update your status easily – But, it is so much more.  Especially for those of you uploading images to your Facebook you will find this incredibly easy and user friendly.  Take a moment to watch the short video below.  You can download Flip Toast here at Fliptoast.com

Your Kids Teeth

Listerine Agent Cool Blue-0562

We have had our kids use mouth wash for quite some time now – but recently I picked up this product called Agent Cool Blue by Listerine.  I thought the kids would like it as it was “bubble blast” flavour, but never really looked at the bottle carefully…thankfully, the kids did.  You see this mouthwash is to be used BEFORE brushing.  It actually coats your child’s teeth to show your child where they need to brush to get a really clean mouth. Brush away the blue – brush away the plaque and tarter.  A gimmick ? Oh you could say  that…but it works!  And in this case, while I was at the dentist yesterday, I found that they really liked the product as well.  Check it out, it’s fun for the kids, and you’ll know they a brushing properly!

Check Here for $1 coupon off as well Smile

GoPro 3D

This is so cool, and really affordable too – make your own 3D movies with the amazing GoPro camera system.  I watched this sample Highlight Reel using my daughter’s “Barbie 3D glasses” and it looks incredible!  I am really wanting to get a GoPro camera, not only for the water proof and shock resistant housing, but for the amazing quality that comes from this little guy!  You have seen these cameras in action before – you just may not realize it!  Anytime you are watching a sporting event, or a show like Wipe Out – you will see the contestants wearing one of these, giving the viewer a first hand account of their spills!
